The residents here at Cedarcrest Manor are doing very well despite the visitor and vendor restrictions.  Staff is going above and beyond to make the residents’ lives happy and fulfilled!

We are continuing to provide our usual activities such as pretty nails, trivia, games, church activities (by television), room visits and of course, BINGO!  Our activities are being provided on more of an individual basis and are all being done with social distancing as mandated by the State of Missouri.

We recently had some friends and their loved ones holding posters and signs and blowing kissed outside the dining room windows during our noon meal.  Their picture made the front of the local newspaper so if you didn’t see it, make sure to look for it!

On Monday, we had an incredible lunch of roasted pork, rice pilaf, green beans, rolls and strawberry cake!  Our individual dining is going smoothly and we are so happy for that!  We want to give a big shout out to all our seamstresses who have graciously donated their time and talents in order to provide cloth masks for our staff.

On Thursday, our Special Care Unit had a soda float and dance party.  What a joyful sound to hear the residents laughing and watching them dance while receiving their restorative movement!  Staff ordered root beer floats, orange floats and cream soda floats for everyone to enjoy!

This week, some residents had family visits from the glass doors.  Shirley Giddens’ and Rose Sherman’s daughters came to connect with their mothers during the COVID-19 outbreak.  We are very fortunate that family members are understanding of these circumstances and making the best of the federal mandates.

04/23/20 – This week, we had Preferred Hospice come by to show their love and support to our residents and staff.  They paraded around the whole building and stood at residents’ windows.  It was such a meaningful, special and thoughtful gesture!
